AOL – Editorial Intern

Location: London

Closing date: Ongoing

At AOL, we’re radically redefining the world of online media. By bringing together award-winning journalists, premium brands, original content and innovative technologies, we’re transforming the way people around the world connect with information, entertainment, and each other.  In the UK, we are home to a number of well-known consumer brands including The Huffington Post, MyDaily and TechCrunch, and run successful advertising businesses through Advertising.com, Adap.tv, Be On, Marketplace and ADTECH.

Passionate about online journalism and social media? Got a knack for spotting the next big viral video via your Twitter/Facebook feed? Obsessed with monitoring metrics to see how well a story is doing, and feel compelled to update until engagement is increased?

In this role, you’ll work alongside our senior editors helping to manage real-time programming on AOL.com, where 10 Million visitors will view your work each and every day. You’ll be finding the most newsworthy or compelling stories using AP/Reuters and other partner wires that provide content, filing them and packaging them as an AOL article, adding photos and videos that will enhance the user’s experience while reading, and then again packaging the story to appear on AOL homepage, which involves finding a photo and writing user-engaging promo copy (headline, description, link copy). You will also occasionally writing stories yourself when time permits and based on interest.

You’ll work directly for our International Programming Manager based in London, UK, who is American. Originally part of the US editorial team, she is now located in London overseeing the overnight shift (6am-2pm London time) for AOL.com.
